First Trust & Savings Bank was established on January 1, 1935, originally operating under that name. In 1996, the bank expanded by acquiring Cleghorn State Bank located in Cleghorn, Iowa. Subsequently, the main office was relocated from Aurelia, Iowa, to 100 West Pine Street in Marcus, Iowa, on November 29, 1999, and again shifted its location to the same address on June 30, 2000. Following years of operation, First Trust & Savings Bank voluntarily closed its doors and liquidated its assets on August 18, 2018.
