Cooper State Bank was established on August 1, 2005. The bank originally operated under this name until it underwent significant changes in its corporate structure. On July 5, 2007, the main office of Cooper State Bank was relocated to 5811 Sawmill Road in Dublin, Ohio. Subsequently, on April 17, 2015, Cooper State Bank merged and became part of First Merchants Bank National Association, which is based in Muncie, Indiana. Following the merger, the institution changed its name to First Merchants Bank on April 15, 2016.
