My daughter rented an apartment and earned the security deposit for keeping it in good condition when she left. The check was issued by a Gateway Bank customer. We contacted the bank for directions on how to cash the check and then left for the hour and thirty minute drive to the bank. When we arrived, we were told that the check could not be cashed, even though it was issued by that bank. They attempted to contact the rental co. issuing the check. 45 minutes later we had no luck. We left and will NEVER visit that bank again. Our own bank cashed the check in less than 5 minutes!
