Branch Reviews & Complaints
I use to sing praises regarding Huntington Bank until two days ago when I realized they are just another company who wants customers to cater to them instead of them catering to their loyal customers. I have severe arthritis in my feet, and I don't drive so I walk everywhere I need to go. Needless to say if I overdue the walking I pay for it later. A couple months ago while I was visiting inside the bank to get my once a month roll of quarters for laundry, the time it took to wait in line, fill out a withdrawal slip, and complete the transaction took about 10 minutes. For someone with severe arthritis in their feet, that's like 5 hours of standing/walking. So I asked the teller if I could have a withdrawal slip to take with me, so I could fill it out beforehand next month. She said sure but when next month came and I started to fill out the slip I realized she gave me a deposit slip instead. When I went two days ago I actually needed to sit down while waiting because there was a customer before me who apparently liked to chat, no big deal I'll just sit while waiting. So when it was my turn and I started filling out the withdrawal slip I asked if I could have one to take with me for next months withdrawal. She refused the request stating policy or something... I'm thinking, Huntington Bank has a policy against making things a little easier for the customers who deposit their money into their bank consistently every month? It's one piece of paper Huntington! Filling it out before I get to the branch saves me standing on my feet time! It's my money Huntington, I'm just letting you hold on to it! I've really thought about this, and I just cannot come up with any valid reason why giving a customer with a disability 1 ONE withdrawal slip could potentially cause harm or be fraudulent to anyone. So, Mr. Laporte, if I had the choice of reducing my foot pain or being able to stand at your bank counter and chatting about whatever with a teller, I will ALWAYS choose reduced foot pain 100%!
The branch manager, Joe LaPorte, refused to help my elderly mother scan and emal a document to her title company because "they didn't get their loan there" when in fact they actually got a home equity loan from JOE'S branch and also have a checking account there. He was rude to my mom, and it isn't the first time. Because of his attitude, she told him she was done with Chemical Bank and he told her "she wasn't being fair." I have a very good friend who is a Relationship Manager at Chemical Bank and I have contacted him about filing a complaint. My mom had to return home, print an emailed UPS label the title company sent over (it was their suggestion she go to her bank for help with scanning the document and they could NOT believe they wouldn't help her) and then she had to find a UPS location to get it sent out. I am completely disgusted by Joe's behavior toward a customer, let alone an elderly woman. Not everyone has technology available or the know how everyone expects these days and to not provide such a simple courtesy to one of your own customers... shame on you.
