Merchants Bank

Merchants Bank was established on November 16, 1962, initially operating under its original name, Merchants Bank. On May 8, 1978, the institution underwent a name change to Merchants Bank, reflecting its focus on local financial services. Subsequently, on February 1, 1979, the main office of Merchants Bank was relocated to 1901 North College Avenue in Jackson, Alabama. The bank continued to operate independently until its merger with BancorpSouth Bank on April 1, 2019, becoming part of that larger financial institution based in Tupelo, Mississippi. Following this merger, the bank changed its institution name to Cadence Bank on October 29, 2021.
