M&T Bank Hunt Valley

From start to us completely abandoning the M&T office in Hunt Velley, my entire experience in that branch was absolutely HORRIBLE.

Our initial phone call was not returned so I showed up on my lunch break. I sat with an employee and explained in great detail exactly what I was looking to do. This would be the third trust account I would be opening with my partners. We had worked with 2 other banks to do the exact same thing. I was given instruction by M&T on exactly what I had to do to open a trust account. This was 1 month before our requested appointment.
When I called 2 weeks prior, I was informed the person I was working with was no longer with the bank... We still had our appointment but we were not assigned to a banker. Once again, I explained in great detail exactly what I needed to accomplish during our appointment. My business partner was flying in from California for this appointment.

I was initially told M&T would need to review our trust documents for 5 to 10 days prior. A digital copy of the trust was delivered 9 days before our appointment. I will admit that was my fault, I was told it could take 10 days. I was also told by our first banker it usually takes 4 days.

I forwarded drivers licensees and found social security cards as requested by the banker. I ended every email with "is there anything I need to do for you to make this happen?"

The afternoon before our appointment I got a phone call from M&T saying our trust was not approved and our appointment was cancelled. My business partner is now in the air in route to BWI from San Diego.

I called the bank back and request to keep the appointment to open a normal bank account in the hopes of creating the trust account "someday in the future". The banker told me no. She straight up refused to hold our existing appointment so we could open an account. I was told my partner in California was not in M&T's footprint. He told me M&T held his mortgage.

By this point my partner is in the bank. He is standing in front of the "manager" in Hunt Valley. He explains in great detail once again our situation. She stated she was aware and agreed to hold our scheduled appointment so we could open a regular account.

The next morning when we arrived, we were told our trust account had been approved. We sat for hours to provide the information to open the account. We were happy everything worked out.

M&T never contacted us again. When we went to fund the account, it was not there. Upon contacting M&T we were informed there were 17 errors in the account application. The check we left to open the account was never cashed. After the 3 of us taking the day off, one flying across the country it seems the bank account did not take...

Please do not waste your time in the Hunt Valley Branch, perhaps M&T has a grown-up branch near by.
