I walked into this bank very discouraged over a fraud incident. I saw a gentlemen who greeted me and I asked him could I speak to the Branch Manager. He said he was, and promptly took me to his office. We covered my situation, even though he couldn't resolve it right away, he made calls and attempted to help. He did however give me the things I needed to do and gave me his card and said if I had any problems to call him. It was the best I felt walking out this bank after I have been dealing with this since March. This is what a leader does he sets the example, and today Joey really set the example for his team. Thank you so much Joey Bain your bank is lucky to have you.

These people are useless. Today they suspended my account only because it's been 2 years since I opened it. No other reason given. I had to go through the reset process after not being able to buy groceries. WHAT IF I HAD BEEN ON VACATION?!? They allow no overseas purchases without talking to a rep to verify it. $2.50 in England??? Oh, that could break the bank. And you have to re-verify every merchant every 90 days, that are overseas. Last time I tried and gave up on the process it was for an online telescope in Australia that I have used for 20 years- they're the most reputable org I've ever dealt with. After having it verified twice before, the phone agent told me she didn't have the authority to do that. I asked for a supervisor, who wasn't available, and she called me back 2 days later...and had the gall to actually ask me, "So, why do you want to make this purchase". She said she'd think about it and 3 days later authorized it...for 30 days. I understand that banks eat the cost when someone does something fraudulent on your account, and being a small bank they want to keep that to zero. Fine. But they've gone way overboard with it. I have advice for them. Never want a fraud related cost? Fine. Unplug your computers. That's effectively what they've done with accounts. I thought, "I know the manager, mother-in-law has done business there for 50 years, right in the neighborhood, no monthly fees, what could be better?" Now I know. It's not usable. Like I said, what if I'd been on vacation or found out about the overseas policy when I had just gone there?
It is a very friendly and personable bank. They take good care of there customer and they learn customer names and make them feel like there being taken good care of.
How are working people that have normal hour jobs. Supposed to come in and get help with paperwork? I can't log on can't check balance nothing very upsetting.
As a new customer, I have been very pleased with Southside Bank. Excellent service and quick turnaround time. A pleasant banking experience. I am a happy customer! Rates are superb and above what I expected.
