In 2022 I opened a CD account at 5%. In 2023, I received the same 5% amount. In 2024, (they send that the cd is coming due on December 23, but that they do not have the interest rate. Having cancer, I must have missed the small print: YOU MUST TELL THEM TO RENEW THE CD. When I got my tax amount in 2024, it was for $100.00. I do not do any other business with this bank and NEVER received any paper work regarding the CD not renewing.
I do have a Synchrony account and they send two letters: one when it is coming due and another that it has renewed... You can then make a decesion.
Bank of Texas is a complete rip off bank. Do not do business with this account.
Agreed no lie! They are obnoxious, rude and sneaky. AVOID.
Do not use this bank! Their money market accounts were showing online as some of the highest in the country so I opened an account. I noticed ongoing advertising of high rates but did not see these high rates being paid to my account. When I called "Christina" the "assistant manager" she said "those higher rates are for a 'different product'". Different product? Ridiculous! I had deposited the max covered by FDIC! She was also very obnoxious and kept interrupting me constantly so I could barely say anything. Also, when I requested a form to wire my money out of the account, she refused and said someone else would have to call and ID me and send me the form. Avoid this bank at all costs!
